Terms

Last updated 16 October 2026

The short version

  • The app is free. Your notes are yours, and you can take them anywhere.
  • Your notes are encrypted with your passphrase. If you lose it and every device, we can’t get them back.
  • Paid plans renew yearly. You can cancel any time, and change your mind within 14 days.
  • Don’t use Notelet for anything illegal or to harm the service.
  • Notelet is in beta: keep a backup of anything you can’t lose.

These terms

These terms are an agreement between you and us, Kristiyan Kanchev, the independent developer in the United Kingdom who makes Notelet (“we”, “us”). They cover the Notelet apps, Notelet Cloud and this website. Using any of them means you accept these terms and our privacy policy.

The app

Notelet is free. You may install it on every device you own and use it for anything lawful, at home or at work. The app and its code belong to us: please don’t copy, sell, modify or reverse-engineer it, except where the law allows you to.

If you got the app from Apple’s App Store or Google Play, their terms apply too. Apple and Google aren’t responsible for Notelet or its support: we are.

A public beta

Notelet is still in beta. Features may change, appear or go, and things will sometimes go wrong. We work hard not to lose anything, but please keep a backup of anything you can’t afford to lose. The app can export every note as a PDF, Markdown or plain text at any time.

Your notes

Everything you write and add is yours. We claim no rights over it. Notelet Cloud stores encrypted copies only so your devices can sync, and we can’t read them.

That also means we can’t recover your notes for you. They’re opened with your passphrase (the seven words) or from one of your devices. If you lose your passphrase and every device, your notes are gone for good. Keep your recovery sheet somewhere safe.

Your account

  • You need to be 13 or older to make a Notelet Cloud account, or older if the law where you live says so.
  • Use an email address you can receive mail at, and keep your password to yourself. You’re responsible for what happens in your account.
  • One account is for one person. Please don’t share it, sell it, or make extra accounts to get more free storage.

Fair use

Please don’t use Notelet to:

  • break the law, or store or share anything it’s illegal to have;
  • attack, overload, probe or get round the limits of our service;
  • get into anyone else’s account or files;
  • host files for other people, or resell our storage.

If an account breaks these rules, we may close it. Unless the law or someone’s safety stops us, we’ll tell you why first and give you time to take your notes elsewhere.

Plans and payments

  • Founders: the first 1,000 accounts with a confirmed email address get 5 GB of Notelet Cloud free, for as long as we run Notelet Cloud. That’s one place per mailbox.
  • Paid plans are yearly. The price is shown on our website before you pay, and you pay through Stripe. The apps don’t sell anything.
  • Renewal: a plan renews each year until you cancel it. Cancel any time on your account page, and your plan runs to the end of the year you’ve paid for.
  • Changing your mind: within 14 days of buying or renewing a plan, write to us for a full refund.
  • Price changes never affect a year you’ve already paid for. We’ll tell you at least 30 days before a renewal at a new price.
  • If a plan ends: we keep its storage for 30 days. After that we don’t delete anything, but your library can’t grow beyond the storage you still have until you make room or choose a plan.

Ending

You can stop using Notelet and delete your account whenever you like, in the app or on your account page. Deleting it ends a paid plan straight away, and the 14 days to change your mind still apply. If you delete it by mistake, write to us within 14 days and we can bring it back.

If we ever close Notelet Cloud, we’ll email you at least 90 days before, so you have time to move your notes, and we’ll refund the unused part of any paid plan. The apps keep working with the notes on your devices.

Our responsibility

We provide Notelet with care, but as it is and as available. We can’t promise it will never be interrupted or never have a bug.

As far as the law allows, we’re not responsible for losses we couldn’t reasonably have foreseen, for business losses, or for loss of notes you didn’t back up. Our total responsibility to you is limited to what you’ve paid us in the 12 months before the problem.

Nothing here limits our responsibility where the law doesn’t allow it to be limited, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Nothing here takes away your legal rights as a consumer.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Notelet grows. We’ll post the new terms here and change the date at the top. If a change matters, we’ll email Notelet Cloud accounts at least 30 days before it takes effect. If you don’t agree, you can cancel and get a refund for the unused part of a paid plan.

The law

The law of England and Wales governs these terms. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your own courts, and if you live elsewhere you keep the protections your own country’s law gives you.
